Who I was

“Who I was
is not who I am.
Today I choose
to walk a different path.

So if you must,
throw the stones of my past —
I will not deny them,
but receive them to humble me.

Today my shield is the Lord.
Because of who He is
and the blood He shed,
I no longer have to run from my past,
but can embrace it
and walk in peace toward my future.”
