Substance in a Noisy World
There are days when the digital world
feels like a crowded marketplace—
millions of voices calling out,
each hoping someone will turn their head.
Facebook, Instagram, TikTok…
they all run on the same emotional economy:
visibility equals worth.
If you are seen,
you matter.
If you are ignored,
you disappear.
I have felt that tension myself.
I write,
I post,
I share
pieces of my life
and my reflections,
and sometimes
it feels like they vanish
into the ether
without a ripple.
And I have often wondered:
How am I any different from the throng?
If I say, “I wish someone would hear me,”
could they not say the same?
But the more I sit with that question,
the clearer the distinction becomes.
Most of the noise online
is performance.
People curate versions of themselves
designed to attract attention—
polished,
exaggerated,
or strategically vulnerable.
The goal is not connection;
it is reaction.
The architecture rewards speed,
spectacle,
and emotional bait.
It is not that people are shallow;
it is that the system pushes them
toward shallow behavior.
But beneath all that noise,
there is a quieter hunger.
People want to be understood,
not admired.
They want to speak
without shouting.
They want to matter to someone
without performing for them.
They want connection
that does not carry romantic undertones
or transactional expectations.
That is the space
I am trying to inhabit.
I do not write to be noticed.
I write to be understood.
I am not looking for followers;
I am looking for resonance.
I am not seeking romance;
I am seeking the kind of platonic,
substantive connection
that used to happen on front porches,
in church halls,
or over long conversations at a kitchen table.
And I believe there are still people out there—
quiet,
thoughtful,
reflective—
who feel the same way.
They are just harder to find
because they are not shouting.
They are not performing.
They are not chasing the algorithm.
They are simply present.
So I will keep writing.
I will keep showing up with honesty,
clarity,
and proportion.
And if you are one of the few
who value depth over noise,
presence over performance,
and conversation over spectacle,
then you are welcome here.
In a world full of noise,
there is still room for quiet,
honest,
platonic connection.
I am here for it.
