Family Portrait

In heaven,
the word family
is not bound
by blood
or species.

It is covenant.
It is witness.
It is love
without barrier.

Here sits the man,
not alone,
but surrounded
by those
who bore testimony
beside him—

lion and tiger,
jaguar
and wolf,
bobcat
and lynx,

eagle
and falcon,
owl
and dog.

Each one innocent.
Each one beloved.
Each one a lantern
of God’s mercy.

They do not speak
with human words,
nor do they need to.

Their presence is clear.
Their loyalty is pure.
Their companionship is whole.

This is not a fantasy—
it is the restoration of Eden.
The man does not dominate;
he dwells.

He does not command;
he communes.
His home is not a fortress,
but a sanctuary.

And every creature here
is not a pet,
but a witness.

This is the family portrait
of heaven:
Not the triumph
of man over beast,

But the harmony
of creation restored.
Not the erasure
of wildness,
But its redemption.
